Dr. Morton leads a Byrne Seminar and co-teaches a junior-senior seminar on stem cells, spinal injury, clinical trial design, and ethics, and is co-founder and advisor for RU-WINS (Rutgers University Women in Neuroscience). She works closely with people with spinal cord injuries and their families, and with cooperative efforts between organizations and institutions involved in spinal cord injury research and clinical trials in the United States and internationally. She designed and led fund-raising activities, and instituted programs to bring injured people and their families into partnership with scientists. She coordinated a state-by-state movement, Quest for the Cure, to pass legislation to increase funding for spinal cord injury, including the New Jersey Commission on Spinal Cord Research where she served as a founding member, and enabled successful efforts to pass stem cell legislation and funding in New Jersey and throughout the country.
