Welcome!
We study the regulation of mammalian RNA degradation: mechanism and link to human disorders. We are located at Rutgers University in the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience in the Division of Life Sciences.
Research Interests
Regulation of gene expression is a critical determinant of all aspects of cellular and organismal fate. Our research is centered on the regulation of mRNA degradation and the pivotal role it plays in maintaining the delicate balance of gene expression and cellular function. One focus of the lab has been on the intriguing process of decapping—the removal of the crucial 5´-end protective cap and its role in both normal and disease states including cognitive disabilities. Another area focuses on epitranscriptomic glyco- and m6Am- modifications of RNA and their impact on RNA fate
