01:146:201-202 Independent Study in Cell Biology and Neuroscience (1-3)

Research under the direction of a Rutgers faculty member willing to sponsor the student. Written report required. Prerequisites: Permission of the course coordinator and lab sponsor, and a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or better. May not be used to fulfill a laboratory requirement. Open only to students majoring or planning to major in CBN. (Fall 201, Spring 202)

01:146:245 Fundamentals of Neurobiology (3)

  • CBN Core Courses: CBN Introductory Courses
  • Credits: 3
  • Suggested Year: 2nd/3rd

Introduction to the biology of the nervous system. Topics covered include nerve cell signaling, sensory and motor systems, and higher brain processes. Prerequisites: General Biology I and II (01:119:115-116). REQUIRED for the CBN major. (Fall, Spring)

01:146:270 Fundamentals of Cell and Developmental Biology (3)

  • CBN Core Courses: CBN Introductory Courses
  • Credits: 3
  • Suggested Year: 2nd/3rd

Principles of cell biology. Structure, function, and macromolecular organization of cellular organelles. Prerequisites: General Biology I and II (01:119:115-116). REQUIRED for the CBN major. (Fall, Spring)

 

01:146:295 Essentials of Cell Biology and Neuroscience (3)

Topics range from regulation of gene transcription to neural signaling and cognition with a focus on how this information can be applied to remediation of neurological disorders. Prerequisites: General Biology I and II (01:119:115-116). NOT for students planning to major in CBN. (Fall, Spring)

 

01:146:307-308 Research in Cell Biology and Neuroscience (1-3)

Research under the direction of a Rutgers faculty member willing to sponsor the student. Written report required. Prerequisites: Permission of the course coordinator and lab sponsor, and a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or better. May be used to fulfill a laboratory requirement.
